The Tanzania Jungle Discovery Program (T210)
The International Volunteer Travel Jungle Discovery program starts in Moshi, Tanzania. It is an amazing two-week program incorporating 8 days of touring breathtaking wilderness areas in Tanzania, East Africa. The jungle safari expedition features world famous Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Olduvai Gorge and Serengeti National Parks.

A sample schedule of our International Volunteer Travel Tanzania Jungle Discovery program is provided below:
Day 1:Arrival and pick up from the Arusha, Kilimanjaro, International Airport, in Arusha, Tanzania and transfer to host family home
Day 2:Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 2-hour discussion covering topics including orientation to the program, Tanzania culture, history, customs, politics, do’s and don’ts. Afternoon is free for exploring rural Tanzania and getting to know your host family.
Day 3:Volunteers abroad and international interns leave for project early in the morning after breakfast. Introductions held with project staff, and the host family.
Day 3-4:Overseas volunteer or internship work. Interns abroad and overseas volunteers are free to explore the surrounding areas in their free time.
Day 4:End international volunteer work. Farewell to the project and evaluation of the program.
Day 5-12:Tanzania Jungle Discovery Safari: (8 Days)
In Tanzania’s greatest Rift Valley wilderness parks adventurous volunteers and overseas interns will encounter over 450 bird species, and numerous species of animals including gazelles; impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the famous tree climbing lion; hyena; baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, zebras, thousands of wildebeests, etc – over a million animals in total.
Day 5:Lake Manyara: Its time to have fun - overseas volunteers and Africa interns on this program leave Arusha, early morning and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive. Picnic lunch en-route, dinner and overnight at Campsite.
Day 6:Lake Natron: The Lake is the only breeding area for the 2.5 million lesser flamingoes that live in the valley because its caustic environment is barrier against predators trying to reach their nests. Walk around the lake and streams and waterfalls along the nearby escarpment for a fantastic adventure off the beaten track. Campsite or Hotel near for overnight.
Day 7:Lake Eyasi. You will see a great bird life along the shores of this Rift Valley Lake. The meadows along the lake shores and forest are home to a wide variety of wildlife including leopard, hippos, a variety of monkeys, various birds. flamingoes, storks and pelicans. Campsite or Hotel for overnight.
Day 8:Drive to Eyas: For some activities with the bushmen-wahadzabe tribe. They are often willing for visitor to come and see their simple bush homes where the tree canopy alone or a cave provides them with shelter. They live entirely off the bush and from hunting. After getting such special opportunity to walk with Hadza, hunting or gather honey and insects from the bush transfer to camp or hotel for overnight.
Day 9:Serengeti: Depart Lake Eyasi for Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge with lots of game viewing en-route. Olduvai is a world famous archaeological site in which early human fossils were first discovered. It has an amazing landscape that resulted from the tectonic forces, which created the Great Rift Valley. Evening game drive. If you are lucky you may witness the great Serengeti – Masai Mara wildebeest migration. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite. Visit Olduvai Gorge a site of archeological importance - home to some of the earliest ancestors of man.
Day 10:Serengeti: A full day of African wilderness experience in the Serengeti. If you are lucky you may witness the great Serengeti – Masai Mara wildebeest migration. Picnic lunch, Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite.
Day 11:Serengeti – Ngorongoro: After breakfast game drives in Serengeti national park, then depart for Ngorongoro via Olduvai, game viewing along the way. Picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro campsite.
Day 12:Ngorongoro- Moshi: After breakfast depart Serengeti for Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 2,000 feet into the crater floor for game viewing with your picnic lunch en-route. See hundreds of birds at the crater lake. Afternoon depart Ngorongoro for Moshi arriving late afternoon.
Day 13:Break, free day. Program Evaluation.
Day 14:End of Adventure Program. Departure for those staying for 2 weeks. Those staying longer proceed to their volunteer abroad project placement.
This schedule is subject to change by the country coordinator to fit into local circumstances. All our Africa safaris are camping safaris. Accommodation is in shared camp tents.
