TestimonialsVolunteer With Housing Development in Uruguay
Since the 1990’s, government programs in Uruguay have launched plans of assistance to social emergency to help the poorest people in Uruguay.
The “Habitat
Improvement Program” is part of an agreement between the
local government of Treinta y Tres (IMTT), the Ministry of
Social Development (MSD)and Habitat for Humanity in Uruguay.
The main aim of the project is to improve housing among the local poor with active participation of the people; giving them materials and technical assistance; working with the government and Habitat for Humanity to support their common goals of housing the poor.
Duties and Activities
Volunteers will participate in selecting needy families from
the public based on their economic needs, and on the territorial
and housing quality criteria for the local area.
In addition, international volunteers will participate in building and construction, and training of the local people in construction and community development and management.
Combining Uruguay ProgramsIn addition to voluntary work abroad in Uruguay, we offer opportunities for internships abroad, Survival Spanish learning, and Adventure Holidays programs in Uruguay, South America.
Spanish Language Requirements
Basic Spanish is strongly recommended but not required. International volunteers and interns abroad without working knowledge of Spanish are encouraged to sign up for our one week Survival Spanish program to acquire basic Spanish skills.
