Uruguay Holiday Country Tours
The International Volunteer Travel Uruguay Ranch Country Adventure feature 4 days of memorable ranch and countryside experience. Under this program you can enjoy modern housing facilities in a rural setting with lots of country activities. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the serenity and beauty of Uruguayan countryside.
Under the Uruguay Ranch Country Adventure program, you will travel back in time to colonial style Uruguay estancias (pampean region’s ranches) that have been modernized to take advantage of modern amenities like electricity and sanitation while preserving their centennial/colonial style and original architecture. As you interact with Gauchos, the ancient Uruguayan inhabitants with excellent ranching skills; as you observe or participate in routine ranching activities, you will enjoy peace, quiet and relaxation that is uncommon in today’s rushed world.

A Sample schedule of the Uruguay Ranch Country Adventure program is as follows:
1: Arrival and pick up from the Carrasco
International Airport (Airport Code: MVD) in
Montevideo, Uruguay. Transfer to hotel and rest.
Day 2: Orientation. This entails about a 2-hour discussion. Topics covered at orientation will include Uruguayan culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary travel precautions, do’s and don’t’s. Afternoon is free for exploring the city of Treinta Y Tres.
Day 3 –6: Uruguay Ranch Country Holiday
Day 4-5: Join or watch the local cowboy (guacho) doing ranch work including herding cattle (mostly on horse back), sowing or harvesting, branding and shearing sheep, “breaking” or riding crazy horses at the local rodeo. Alternatively go for quiet walks in the countryside, ride in a cart or carriage, go fishing in the river, or participate in water sports. Free delicious local meals are included in the tour.
Day 6: Depart for
