Internships Abroad in Zanzibar
International Volunteer Travel offers internship placement in every area that we offer volunteer abroad placement in Zanzibar. Our internship programs are suitable for nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals, prospective majors, pre-program students, teachers, gap year students, and basically anyone with or without any prior training.
Zanzibar Teaching Internships
International interns in Zanzibar teaching program will be attached to a school (pre-school to high school) or an adult literacy program.
Zanzibar teaching internship work include; helping teachers in the class, reading, making materials, teaching English, arts and crafts, sports, activities and games, and helping kids with homework. You can teach at the elementary (primary) or secondary school levels.
Zanzibar Internship work with Children
Interns will be placed with local orphanages, street children programs, etc. Duties will include teaching English in the schools that the kids attend, after school tutoring, assisting in preparing meals for the kids, bathing the children, and doing the dishes, organizing games and sports, and fundraising activities such as proposal writing, etc.
Zanzibar Heath Care Internships
Interns will either be attached to administrative
field offices or health facilities including
clinics and hospitals. At health facilities,
you can also work as a dental or medical assistant
volunteer at one of the local hospitals. Generally
you will assist/support the doctor/dentists or
clinician in the normal routine of medical work
e.g. taking vital signs, dressing wounds, taking
patients history, counseling patients, providing
assurance and moral support to patients family,
disbursing minor medicines etc.
Interns with the public health and education programs can be placed at medical facilities or in the field but they will not deal with patients directly. Most of the work entails computer and database creation and management for patient record keeping; computer training for hospital staff; public health brochure and publication making; community education to create public awareness on common diseases; and public health program monitoring and evaluation.
