Zanzibar Island Programs
The Islands of Zanzibar, Africa?s hidden Paradise have fascinated explorers since AD 60 with famous legendary explorers such as Portuguese Vasco da Gama and British James Lancaster. Zanzibar has more than sufficient to offer to her numerous visitors who come in everyday to get a taste of this island in the Indian Ocean. International Volunteer Travel partners with different Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on the Zanzibar Island, serving the needs of the people in this beautiful African Paradise.
Zanzibar is a special province of Tanzania. Having got its independence from Britain in 1963, Zanzibar merged with Tanganyika the same year to form the United Republic of Tanzania, commonly known as Tanzania.

Combination of Programs
In addition to Volunteer placement in Zanzibar, the International Volunteer Travel also offers opportunities for Internships Abroad in Zanzibar, the Language and Cultural Experience, and the Zanzibar Adventure Tours and Holidays program. With exception of the Language and Cultural Experience, which must be combined with another program, all Zanzibar programs are offered independently or in combination.
