Internships Abroad in Brazil
As the largest and most populous country in South America, Brazil host a diversity of culture, economics and natural landscape. This makes it ideal for travel, tours, internship work and international internships.
The International Volunteer Travel provides opportunities for short-term, long-term and group internship placements. You can intern in Brazil for college or high school credits or to simply polish your skills.
Brazil Internship Programs
The International Volunteer Travel Brazil program gives you an opportunity to work as an overseas intern in many areas including the Circus, Music, Art and Dance, Photography, Video, Nature Conservation and Environmental Projects, Social Work, Community Development and Research, Public Health Education, HIV/AIDS Awareness and Care, internship with Children and Youth Support and Development.
Internship with Children in Brazil
International interns in Brazil will assist children in learning to appreciate art and discover their talents thus providing a safe and fun atmosphere for many children in Brazil that would otherwise be roaming the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
Overseas internship work with children includes teaching skills like dance, visual arts (painting, drawing, paperwork, etc), theatre/public expression, music, photography, audio and video recording, capoeira and teaching English as a second language.
Internship with Public Health
Brazil requires much assistance in raising health awareness and assessing the performance of public health programs. International internship duties in public health entails coordinating program management units, promoting participation among low-income communities and evaluating Brazilian communities and family health programs
HIV and AIDS Internship Service
The HIV/AIDS pandemic is a serious problem in Brazil. International Volunteer Travel partners with local organizations, to promote awareness and prevention of the disease in Brazil. Overseas interns in Latin America can help the HIV/AIDS Awareness and Care Program by: helping with informational events, developing action plans, distributing educational leaflets and condoms, and speaking to and uniting communities in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Internship With Brazilian Youths
The purpose of this internship abroad project is to create initiatives and reinforce social responsibilities and consciousness among Brazilian Youths and their families as well as help Brazilian youths harness social and business skills. Interns abroad can alternate between two areas namely: circus, music, dance and development of social skills.
If you are attached to the Circus Music and Dance project you will provide friendship, guidance and help to Brazilian kids overseas by helping with reading, writing; music, dance, circus, acrobatics and art.
Those attached to the Youth Skills Development project will lead and be involved in discussions with teenagers on a variety of issues including: health, citizenship, employment, leadership and entrepreneurship. Those doing internships with Brazilian youths will help plan and develop several projects, reactive community associations and discussions on important regional and national policy issues.
Internship with Nature and Environment
Recycling of plastics is an area of great need in major cities of Brazil. Recycled plastics including bottles are used to make furniture, creating new job opportunities and generating income. Internship in this Brazil project will entail providing assistance to local bottle recycling teams in the collection and arrangement of plastics for recycling.
Internship with Community and Social Service
Brazil is in dire need of social research to identify community problems and propose solutions to such problems especially among the poor. Community development efforts are also required in social/community problem diagnosis, devising and creating a network of community solutions, collective planning, community mobilization and capacity building through training, etc. Interns abroad in Brazil can choose between social research or community development work.

Brazil Internship Program Highlights
18 and over.
Length of Program:
2 to 24 weeks.
2nd and 4th Tuesday of every Month
Airport Arrival Time: Preferably by 4:00 PM
Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation provided in a special guest house, or in a youth hostel incase of overflow. Meals are not provided. International interns can do self-catering with facilities available in the house, or eat at the restaurants. Restaurant food prices are about USD $3.00 for a good meal.
Routine transport to work is not provided. Local transport costs about USD 1.00 for a return trip to and from project.
Mondays to Fridays. 2 to 5 hours daily (10 to 25 hours weekly)

Portuguese Language Requirements
One week Survival Portuguese Program required if you have no working knowledge of Portuguese, Spanish or Italian and are staying for more than 3 weeks; otherwise language requirement is waived. You can take the program in the morning and volunteer/intern in the afternoon.
