Health Care Volunteering in Ghana

Ghana like many developing countries lacks adequate health care services especially for children and the poor. International Volunteer Travel partners with Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and public facilities that provide health care for children and mature people.

The objective of this health care project is to raise the standard and quality of life of the community and provide efficient and quality services to people who are most vulnerable, especially women and children.

International volunteers will work with local health centers and assist with routine medical work like taking vital signs, dressing wounds, taking patients history and keeping medical records, counselling patients, providing assurance and moral support to patients’ family, medical laboratory work; medical and dental public health campaigns, etc.

Combination of Programs
In addition to Volunteer placement in Ghana, the International Volunteer Travel also offers opportunities for Internships Abroad in Ghana, a Language and Cultural Experience, and Ghana Adventure Tours and Holidays.  We have placement for individuals, Gap year students and discounted offers for groups of volunteers wanting to be placed together in our Ghana projects.

Ghana Program Highlights Age Limit:
18 and over; Under 18 if accompanied by guardian or with Gap Year or Group Volunteer Abroad program.

Location:
Accra and others

Length of Program:
1 to 24 weeks.

Starting Dates:
1st and 3rd Thursday of every Month; Plan to arrive the day before.

Airport Arrival Time:
Preferably by 4:00 PM

Accommodation, & Meals:
Special volunteer house or carefully selected Ghanaian households; 3 Ghanaian meals provided per day.

Schedule:
Mondays to Fridays. 3 to 6 hours daily (10 to 20 hours weekly).
