One of the major initiatives post independence in Ghana was ?Free
education for All?. Numerous coups and political unrest for
about 30 years coupled with radical changes in educational programs
and low wages for teachers resulted in gradual decline of elementary
and secondary school teachers. Currently the insufficient number
of teachers as is the case in most developing countries has remained
a major problem in Ghana. Your contribution to teach English or
any other subjects will be highly appreciated and fulfilling to
yourself.
International volunteers abroad in the teaching programs in Ghana will assist teachers in the class, teaching English, Math, Science, arts and crafts. Other duties may include playing and leading activities and games, and helping kids with their homework.
