From your arrival in the small cit y of Treinta Y Tres, the combined tour of the expansive and tranquil Uruguayan countryside and the beach city of Punta del Este, will give you a great time and an all rounded feel of the Latin American country of Uruguay.

We start out with a trip to the colonial style Uruguay estancias (ranches). Here you will travel back in time to interact with Gauchos (Uruguayan cowboys), enjoy horse riding, cattle herding, fishing, tasting the different traditional foods, and much more. Then proceed to one of Latin America’s best-kept secrets, the seaside resort city of Punta del Este (Punta). Walk along miles of beautiful, pristine beaches; join wealthy, world famous celebrities and politicians in the casinos, discotheques, and other entertainment spots; marvel at the unpredictable yet exquisite architecture of Punta.

A Sample schedule of the Best of Uruguay Adventure program is as follows:

Day 1: Arrival and pick up from the Carrasco International Airport (Airport Code: MVD) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Transfer to hotel and rest.
Day 2: Orientation. This entails about a 2-hour discussion. Topics covered at orientation will include Uruguayan culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary travel precautions, do’s and don’t’s. Afternoon is free for exploring the city of Treinta Y Tres.

Day 3 –6: Uruguay Ranch Country Holiday
Day 3: Leave Treinta Y Tres for the estancias in the expansive Uruguayan countryside, arriving early enough for a late lunch at the estancia (ranch) house.

In the afternoon, enjoy horse-riding or cattle herding or simply a walk around the ranch. Day 8: Leave Treinta Y Tres by road arriving at Punta in the afternoon for a guided tour of the city taking note of important spot you could visit during the next two days. Marvel at the unpredictable yet exquisite architecture, mixing many styles from traditional to modern. Walk on un-spoilt coastline, or tour one of the city’s forests.

Day 9 - 10: Punta del Este Resort City Tours
Its time to travel to have fun in Punta del Este. Some places you may also want to visit include the ocean and river beaches. Some of the most famous beaches include Portezuelo, the strip of beaches from ’Pinares’ to ’Las Delicias’, and the so-called ’tame beaches’ among which are ’El Grillo’ and ’La Pastora’ ’El Emir’ and the famous ’Brava’ and ’San Rafael’ beach.

The city port is another one of the favorite places to visit; complete with vantage points, Italian light fittings, English benches and an outstanding wooden footbridge on the sand dunes that allows the access to the beach.

Don’t forget to sample the cities world-class restaurants for quality international and national cuisine and visit shopping mall.

Day 11: Depart Punta for Treinta Y Tres by 11 AM, arriving home in the afternoon.
Day 12: Visit with orphaned Children in Treinta Y Tres, Uruguay. Assist staff with the children, play with them, teach them a song or learn one from them; show the children love.
Day 13: Best of Uruguay Adventure Program evaluation in the morning; afternoon is free.
Day 14: Program Ends at 10 AM. Farewell to country staff. Uruguay volunteers and interns abroad who have signed up for more than two weeks now transfer to project placement.
