TestimonialsUruguay Internships Abroad
The
International Volunteer Travel offers a diverse array of overseas
internships in South America. You can intern abroad in Uruguay
to polish your skills, for college study abroad credits, or
for high school credits.
There are short-term, long-term and group international internship placements. Internship abroad projects are available in many areas including working with children; nature conservation and housing development.
Internship with Uruguay Children
The International Volunteer Travel partners with local non profit organizations to promote the development of children with special abilities such as handcrafting, singing, sports and corporal expression. The children will also have an opportunity to participate in the Special Olympic Games, once a year and will be competing in many different sporty disciplines.
Currently the project is working mainly with children and teenagers, four hours per day, three times a week.
International interns will work with children to make handcrafts, supervise singing, and teach Physical Education classes as well as corporal expression activities. Interns abroad with this program can also suggest new activities.
Internship with Housing development
Since the 1990?s, government programs in Uruguay have launched plans of assistance to social emergency to help the poorest people in Uruguay. The ?Habitat Improvement Program? is part of an agreement between the local government of Treinta y Tres (IMTT) and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
The main aim of the project is to improve housing among the local poor with active participation of the people; giving them materials and technical assistance. Interns will participate in selecting needy families from the public based on their economic needs, and on the territorial and housing quality criteria for the local area. In addition, interns will participate in building and construction, and training of the local people in construction and community management.
Internship with Nature Protection
Do
you desire to save nature? You can do so by signing up
for a nature conservation internship abroad in the most
beautiful South American country of Uruguay. As an
intern some of your placements will be with organizations
that are working towards protecting the environment by
preserving the population of crows and butterflies in Uruguay.
Internship service with this project will entail carrying out census of birds and butterflies to: determine species population, determine wildlife diversity, and determine other aspects of the wildlife species, in collaboration with local researchers and scientists.
